Switching to Celexa
GlaxoSmithKline never answered my email about the availability of Paxil CR (Read post “Paxil CR will be unavailable“). I saw my psychiatrist this week and told him I don’t want to go back to regular Paxil because that was making me drowsy in the end of my using it which is why we switched to the CR. So he is weaning me off the Paxil CR and onto Celexa. He said the Paxil CR can be hard to get off of.
I asked him what can I expect and he was reluctant to give me signs and symptoms of the withdrawal (the power of suggestion I guess). This is day 4 of replacing one Paxil CR 37.5 mg with a 20 mg Celexa pill. (I usually take a total of 100 mg of the Paxil CR and he said I will be taking between 60 and 80 mg of Celexa in total.) Last night was a bad night of nightmares. It feels like this might be the Paxil CR starting to effect me (or the lack of it). I am determined to follow this through but still feel quite shaky this morning.
The plan is to go replace each Paxil CR pill with a Celexa pill, adding a Celexa once a week so by the fourth week I will be off the Paxil CR and on the Celexa. This is scary. Very.
